Overview

If you’re looking for a challenge you can do with friends, want to explore some of the top grind trails in Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, and get fit while you’re at it, this Summer Grind Challenge is for you.

Join the Summer Grind Challenge. Over 10 weeks you’ll explore “grind” trails, each offering unique challenges, very steep grades, and serious elevation gain. Choose your own pace, do the trails in any order, and do the challenge either solo or with friends.

As you progress, collect badges, share your adventures on social media, and compete for exciting prizes. Join the Summer Grind Challenge and celebrate your achievements in the great outdoors!

Take The Challenge

These Summer Grind trails will challenge you. Completing the grinds will require an above average fitness and a willingness to climb. A lot.  Get ready for an exhilarating experience where you’ll sweat, get dirty, and have the time of your life, whether you’re going solo or with friends.

The Summer Grind Challenge trails are medium-length adventures with very steep climbs and serious elevation gain. Here’s the grind lineup (Subject to change, some still pending permits/approvals):

  1. Mt Cheam (your warm up hike)(Chilliwack)
  2. Lynn Peak (North Vancouver)
  3. Elk Mountain (Chilliwack)
  4. Grouse Grind (North Vancouver)
  5. William’s Ridge (Chilliwack)
  6. Gloria (Chilliwack)
  7. Upper Pierce Lake (Chilliwack)

Giving Back: Supporting Local Trails

Recent Challenges have raised over $3500 in donations. Thanks to your participation in the 10 Trail Challenge we’ll be able to continue supporting local nonprofits. All donations for this Challenge will support local trails via the Chilliwack Park Society.

Schedule: Rolling Start Dates

We’re trying something new! Before, our Challenges were only available for a set 10 weeks. Miss it, and you were out of luck. This time, however, you have the flexibility to embark on the 13-week Summer Grind Challenge anytime from June to September.

Registration opens on February 9 and closes on July 1, 2024. The event officially kicks off on June 1st. For those who sign up after June 1st, the challenge begins on your registration day. Just remember, the last chance to sign up is July 1, 2024.

From Signup to Success: Navigating Your Challenge

Browse the Explorer Series website to pick your favourite Challenge. When you’re ready to register, we’ll direct you to RaceRoster.com to sign up and optionally donate to a local charity. Then, once your Challenge start date arrives, you’ll use the Fitmap app to record your activities and access all the necessary details, routes, and maps.
