DURATION
10 weeks
ACTIVITY
Hiking or Running

Explore 10 NEW local trails (and 10 coffee shops) with friends over 10 weeks.

Join Part 2 of the 10 Trail Challenge in the Fraser Valley East. If you’ve completed the original 10 Trail Challenge Fraser Valley East Part 1, (Eg in Spring 2023 or Spring 2024) then try these 10 new trails in Part 2. Explore ten local coffee shops and discover ten new trails with friends. Half of the trails are easy, and the rest are moderate, perfect for improving your health and endurance.

This challenge, suitable for those with average fitness levels, spans ten weeks. Set your own pace and complete the trails either solo or with friends, advancing with each trail completed.

Participating also supports local trails through the Chilliwack Park Society. As you progress in the Challenge, collect badges, share your adventures on social media, and compete for exciting prizes. Join the Spring 10 Trail Challenge to drink good coffee, have fun with friends, discover new trails, and celebrate getting fit in the great outdoors!

Take The Challenge: Ten Trails and Ten Coffee Shops In Ten Weeks

This Challenge includes 5 easy “Chill” trails and 5 moderate “Thrill” trails. These Chilliwack, Harrison Hot Springs and Hope-area trails are spring-season-friendly. Completing all 10 trails will require average fitness (an optional love of coffee) and a desire to get out and play in the forest with friends. Get ready for an exhilarating experience where you’ll sweat, get dirty, and have the time of your life, whether you’re going solo or with friends.

CHILL TRAILS

The Chill (easy) trails are mostly flat, short-ish, and some might say easy. Tackle these before you try the Thrill (moderate) trails if you don’t get out walking or hiking much. These are perfect family outings or walk-with-a-friend destinations. Our guess is there’s at least two if not more trails in this Challenge that you’ve never even heard of. Play tourist-explorer in your own backyard and take the Challenge to do them all. Note: Challenge trails are subject to change due to permitting or weather conditions.

  1. Experience The Fraser (West) (Chilliwack)
  2. McDonald Park Sumas Breach (Abbotsford)
  3. Hillkeep (Chilliwack)
  4. TBD (permit pending)
  5. TBD (permit pending)

THRILL TRAILS

The Thrill (moderate) trails are not for the faint of heart. These trails require reasonable fitness and a willingness to do a good amount of uphill climbing on forest trails. You’re going to sweat, get a little dirty, and have the time of your life checking these ones off solo or with friends. These aren’t the hardest and steepest trails around, but they are challenging and doable by most anyone of average fitness. In some cases we’ve provided an easy-ish and a difficult trail to choose from in the Thrill Trails list below. Note: Challenge trails are subject change due to permitting or weather conditions.

  1. Old Marble Hill Road (Chilliwack)
  2. Mt Thom (Chilliwack)
  3. Vedder Mountain Ridge (Chilliwack)
  4. TBD (Permit pending)
  5. TBD (Permit pending)

Tips For Couch Surfers

If you’re fresh off a long season of couch-surfing:

  • Bring a friend to help get you up and going.
  • Walk the trails. Stop, sit, and nap along the way.
  • Bring snacks and drinks.
  • Make short videos of yourself doing the hike. Watch the videos back at home on the couch to motivate you to get out and do the next one on the list.
  • Just do the first 30, 60, or how many minutes you can muster of the more challenging “Thrill” trails. We’ll give you credit for trying 🙂
  • Share your photos, completion badges, and trophies on social media. Get famous.
