In 2000, a few friends in Chilliwack, B.C. established a hiking club known as Hike Chilliwack, guiding hundreds of people on hikes in the area for more than six years. The club eventually transformed into a Facebook community with over 20,000 members.
During the Covid pandemic in 2020, this initiative took a new turn, becoming a virtual outdoor events company named Chill & Thrill. It was later rebranded as The Explorer Series in 2023. Known for its 10 Trail Challenge events, the Explorer Series has seen substantial growth, expanding from 160 participants in 2021 to thousands across six events in Vancouver and the Fraser Valley by 2023.
