Take The Challenge: Ten Grinds In Ten Weeks
These Chilliwack-area grind trails are steep, mostly low-elevation, and spring-season-friendly. Completing the grinds will require reasonable fitness and a willingness to climb a few hundred meters of elevation over a short distance. Get ready for an exhilarating experience where you’ll sweat, get dirty, and have the time of your life, whether you’re going solo or with friends. Although the grinds in this challenge are generally not the hardest, longest, or steepest grind trails around, by the time you reach the final three grinds, you will be seriously challenged as they are very steep, rooty, rocky, and difficult.
The 10 Grind Challenge (Part One) trails vary in length from 2km to 12 km and feature a modest elevation gain ranging from 300 to 1300 meters. Some grinds are suitable for repeats, while others are best experienced as one-offs. Here’s the grind lineup, starting easy and getting progressively more difficult:
- Watt Pot (Columbia Valley)
- Little Mountain (Chilliwack)
- Bridlewood (Chilliwack River Valley)
- Bowman (Vedder Mountain)
- Karver (Ryder Lake)
- QoQo (Vedder Mountain)
- Elk Mountain (Chilliwack)
- William’s Ridge (Chilliwack)
- Lower Pierce Lake (Chilliwack)
- Gloria (Chilliwack)
Note: We’ve excluded harder grind trails, such as the Grouse Grind, from this Part One 10 Grind Challenge and we’ve put them in the Part Two Summer 10 Grind Challenge instead. The Part One 10 Grind Challenge features grinds that are within a reasonable driving distance from Chilliwack. Each trail offers a rewarding challenge with some steep sections, making them suitable for those with average fitness levels.
Check out the Part Two 10 Grind Challenge aka the Summer Grind Challenge which features some of the best grind trails in Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. Use the Part One 10 Grind Challenge to get in shape for the Part Two Summer Grind Challenge.
